Grow Your Faith with FREE Downloads!

How would you like to increase your faith in God’s Word and His promises for free? First, get out your Bible.  Start to increase your faith by reading the Bible each day – either one chapter or for a certain time limit, such as 10 minutes.

Why should we build up our faith?  In Jude 1, we’re told to build ourselves up in our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.  After all, Hebrews 11:6 says that “anyone wanting to come to God must have faith – they must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him”.

God has given everyone a measure of faith.  In Romans 12:3, we learn that “as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”  However, it’s important that we exercise faith.  It’s like exercising your body – your body becomes stronger as you exercise, and your faith becomes stronger the more you exercise it.

How do we build our faith?  Romans 10:17 says that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God”.  In other words, in order to build your faith, you need to read and hear the Word of God.  After all, Colossians 3:16 reminds us to “let the Word of God richly dwell within you”.

Second, listen to the teaching of godly preachers and teachers who have a close, personal relationship with God.  Remember that when you listen to a preacher speak, the points they are making must line up with the Bible.  Look in your bible for verses that clearly align themselves with the preacher’s comments and you can also ask God to show you where to look in the Bible.

If you’re interested in receiving FREE downloads from respected and knowledgeable preachers, we’ve provided a few links for you.  Simply click on the links and choose the topics that are of interest.  We know that the preachers we recommend below listen and know the voice of God. Listen to the topics of your choice while exercising or driving each day.  You’ll build up your faith in God, who loves you and desires to have a personal relationship with you.  Enjoy!

Your Words – Your Tongue – Sets the Course for Your Life

Right Thinking, Right Words, Blessed Life – Daily Devotional (Day 4)

James 3:2-12  James tells us here that the tongue is like a bit in a horse’s mouth or a rudder on a ship that steers the vessel. James also says that the tongue “sets the whole course of one’s life on fire”.

One of the most important differences between animals and man is man’s ability to speak.  God spoke the world and the entire universe into existence.  God gave man all authority on earth (Genesis 1:26-31).  We have creative power in our words.  As in Proverbs 18:21 (“Death and life are in the power of the tongue”), our words have power to create positive outcomes or negative outcomes in our life.  We speak our life into existence by the words we say.

Our words have the ability to bless or curse, to create life or release death (negative circumstances) into our life.  The tongue – our words – has the ability set the course of your life into motion.  Most people use their words to produce negativity, which can produce bad fruit in our life (see Day 1 of this devotional).  Not only can negative situations transpire in your life, but we can also create misrepresentations, falsehoods, envying, jealousies, wrath, and malice, to name a few, with our words.

We need to speak positively, and align our words to match the promises of God.  Find one or two scriptures that speak to your situation.  Write them down on a card or piece of paper and then meditate on God’s Word by thinking about it and speaking it out loud.  God’s Word is true and God’s Words will not return void (Isaiah 55:11).

If a negative circumstances is occurring in your life today, then turn it around with your words.  Talk back to your circumstances with positive, faith-filled words and watch your life change!

What You Say – Will Happen To You

Right Thinking, Right Words, Blessed Life – Daily Devotional (Day 3)

Numbers 14:28:  “Say to them, `As I live,’ says the Lord, `just as you have spoken in My ears, so I will do to you”

In Numbers chapters 13-14, we read that the children of Israel arrived at Canaan, the land God had promised them.  God had said that the land was rich and fertile, and He would give it to them.  Moses sent out 12 tribal leaders of Israel to explore the land.  When they returned, 2 of the leaders (Joshua and Caleb) reported that the land was indeed filled with milk and honey, as God had promised.  They even brought back a cluster of grapes so large that it took two men to carry it on a pole.  They also reported that the people living in the land were powerful, that there were giants living there, and that the cities were protected and fortified.  Knowing that God had promised this land to them, Caleb exclaimed, “Let’s go at once to take the land.  We can surely conquer it!” (Numbers 13:30)

However, 10 of the leaders gave an “evil report” (Numbers 13:32 and 14:37).  They reported the same thing – the people in the land were huge and that there were giants living there.  However, their conclusion was different – they were afraid and exclaimed that they could not go and conquer the land, as the people there were stronger than the Israelites.  The 10 leaders convinced the Israelites that they would not be able to conquer the land, and as a result, the Israelites wept and cried out loud, “If only we had died in Egypt or in the wilderness!”  They plotted among themselves to choose a new leader and go back to Egypt.

Here are two groups of men reporting the same facts – there are people living in the land who are powerful, and there are giants living in the land.  Caleb and Joshua were ready to conquer the land (as God had promised them the land), while the remaining 10 leaders were afraid, convincing the Israelites to be afraid and say out loud that they wanted to return to Egypt or die in the wilderness.

Two men believed God’s promises.  Regardless of the circumstances – regardless of the facts – regardless of what they saw when they visited the land – they believed God and His Word.  God said He would give them the Promised Land.  They took what God said to heart and believed Him.

The remaining 10 men and the Israelites did not believe God and instead believed what they saw and what they heard from other men.  Keep in mind that by this time, the Israelites had failed to trust God 10 times.  What happened next?

In Numbers 14:28 it says that what the Israelites feared the most – dying in the wilderness – came to pass.  They got what they said.  [Numbers 14:27-28, “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who are grumbling against Me? I have heard the complaints of the sons of Israel, which they are making against Me. 28“Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the LORD, ‘just as you have spoken in My ears, so I will surely do to you].  God pronounced that they would spent 1 year in the wilderness for each of the 40 days that the leaders visited the Promise Land – a total of 40 years, and that every adult (except for Joshua and Caleb) would die before their children could enter the Promised Land.  Was this harsh punishment?  Not compared to the instant death that God was considering (Numbers 14:12) until Moses asked God to forgive them and let them live. The Israelites refused to believe God even after they had experienced so many miracles.  Time and time again they did not trust God.  Failing to trust God brought more problems than facing the giants in the land!

The 10 leaders brought an “evil report” back to the Israelites, which they believed instead of God’s promises.  Their evil report infected an entire generation and influenced all of them.  Punishment came as a result of the words spoken by a few and then received by the rest of the people.

Joshua and Caleb did not deny that the people were giants, were strong or lived in walled cities.  They said that God would defend them.  They were looking at it in a positive light – it’s almost like they were saying, “praise God when we overcome them we will get their walled cities!” (Instead of “oh – they have walled cities – we will have a challenge.”)   Caleb and Joshua displayed a positive outlook with it because they believed God’s Word – it didn’t matter what the situation looked like, as God promised them the land.

You have to speak to your situation and about your circumstances in light of what God’s Word says.  You’re not denying what your circumstances are – you are simply saying that “yes, these are my circumstances, but God’s Word says that…..”  Look up Bible versus that pertain to your circumstances, and change your words – you need to talk about your situation in light of God’s Word all of the time.  Get it in the right perspective – God’s perspective.  If you don’t, it’s an evil report.  You don’t want to experience what you fear the most – you want to experience the fullness of God’s blessings!

SCRIPTURE MEDITATION:

Numbers – Chapters 13-14

Hebrews 3:17-19 (NLT), “17 And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness? 18 And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him? 19 So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.”

Hebrews 3:19 (AMP), “So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest], because of their unwillingness to adhere to and trust in and rely on God [unbelief had shut them out].”

Death and Life are in the Power of the Tongue

Right Thinking, Right Words, Blessed Life – Daily Devotional (Day 2)

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) – “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Your tongue is powerful – what you say creates life (or good outcomes) or death (bad or undesirable outcomes).  In other words, you can manifest God’s blessings by speaking life into your situation or you can call in those things that you really don’t want to happen by speaking negatively or saying things that are opposite of God’s promises.  Speaking life simply means that you are confessing God’s promises – you are speaking out loud the outcome that you already have by the grace of God – those things you would like to see manifested in your life.

Proverbs 18:21 in the Amplified Version says, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”  You have the choice of speaking life-changing words.

Life is the Hebrew word “chay”, which means “living, alive”, as well as:  (1) green (of vegetation), (2) flowing, fresh (of water), (3) lively, active (of man), or (4) reviving (of the springtime), renewal.  The same Hebrew word is used in Genesis 2:7, “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (“chay”), and the man became a living being.”

The word “fruit” in this verse is from the Hebrew word “pĕriy”, which has three meanings – fruit (produce of the ground), fruit (offspring, children or progeny of the womb), or fruit (of actions) – also called “reward”.  Proverbs 18:21 mentions the fruit of your words.  This same Hebrew word for “fruit” is used as the word “reward” in Psalm 58:11, “Men will say, Surely there is a reward for the [uncompromisingly] righteous”.

If there are areas in your life that needs changing, your tongue is the best tool to use to bring about the transformation you desire.  Find one or two scriptures in the Bible that speak to your heart, meditate on the scriptures, and then confess the promises of God daily in order to manifest them into your life.  You are able to influence the outcome of your life with the words you speak.  Therefore, speak God’s Word – His Promises for you!

SCRIPTURE MEDITATION:

“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” (Proverbs 18:21 – New Living Translation)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].” (Proverbs 18:21 – Amplified Version)

“Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”  (Proverbs 18:21 – The Message Version)

Your Words Will Not Return Void

Right Thinking, Right Words, Blessed Life – Daily Devotional (Day 1)

One day when I awoke I heard God say to me, “My words will not return void”.  The Holy Spirit was speaking about Isaiah 55:11, which says, “So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

As I meditated on this verse, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me in that still small voice.

“My words will not return void.  That’s true – My words will not return void.  But, turn it around to you – your words will also not return void.  It shall accomplish that which you please – Your words will bring about what you have said.  What you want comes from your heart. It shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it – The words you speak are like seeds – they will be planted, and a tree will grow and prosper, and the tree will produce fruit.  The resulting prosperity will either result in producing good fruit or bad fruit, depending on what you speak.  Do you want good fruit or bad fruit in your life?”

What you say can either work for you – or against you.  It can bring about what God has promised for you, or it can bring about what you really don’t want to happen in your life.  In other words, what you say is what you get!  For example, if you say “I can’t pay my bills”, then you are saying, praying and declaring that you won’t be able to pay your bills.  If you say, “My children don’t listen or behave”, then you are saying, praying and declaring that your children are undisciplined and don’t listen to you.  Is that what you really want?  No.

Speak God’s word over your life.  Find scriptures that speak to your spirit – your heart.  We also should be saying and declaring what God has promised can happen in our life. After you find the bible verses that line up with what you want to happen in your life, then declare them daily.

What words are you saying today that are negative?

Write down the verses and phrases that line up with God’s Word that you will declare today:

Isaiah 55:9-11
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
10  “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11  So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”

Prayer – Asking God and Believing You Receive the Answer

Do you believe God can answer prayers?  Yes.  Believe that God will move in your life.  But, you must first ask God!  Here are numerous scriptures that reiterate the importance of asking God.  This is not being religious – this is forming and maintaining a relationship with the God who not only created you, but created the entire universe.  God’s word is clear – ask Him!  First, you must ask in Jesus’ Name.  Second, you must believe that God answers your prayer.  Even if you don’t see the answer manifested immediately, there may be reasons beyond what you can see that are causing the manifestation to come at just the right time.  Third, thank God that He has answered your prayer.  Remember – don’t go by your feelings – stand firm on the Word of God!

Matthew 7:7-11

7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  8  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.  9  Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?  10  Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?  11  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Luke 11:9-13

9  And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.  11  If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?  12  Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?  13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

John 14:13-14

13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 15:7-8

7  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.  8  Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 16:23-24

23  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. 24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Philippians 4:6  Be careful [NKJV: anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:19 But [NKJV: And] my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

James 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

1 John 5:14-15

14  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:  15  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Prayer of Salvation

God loves you – no matter who you are, no matter what your past.  God loves you so much that He gave His one and only begotten Son for you.  The Bible tells us that “..whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  Jesus laid down His life and rose again so that we could spend eternity with Him in Heaven and have a personal relationship with Him on earth.

If you are at the point in your life where you are ready to make a personal commitment to follow Christ, all you have to do is reach out to Him now in prayer. He is listening and waiting to come into your heart and help you live a better life. Will you invite Him in now? If you’d like to pray and receive Christ as your Savior, you can use this simple prayer as a guide:

“Lord Jesus, I ask You to come into my life and forgive me of all my sins.  I confess my sins before You this day.  I denounce Satan and all his works.  I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that He rose again from the dead so that I might be forgiven of my sins and made righteous through faith in Him.  I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. Thank You for saving me.  I am saved.  Write my name in Your Book of Life.  Jesus, I choose to follow You and ask that You fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit.  I declare that I am a child of God.  I am full of the righteousness of God. I pray this prayer to the Father in the name of Jesus.  Amen.”

If you just prayed this prayer, please e-mail, please let us know by sending us an email at FaithInGodDaily@gmail.com today!  Then, pick up your Bible and read God’s Word every day.  Listen to the Holy Spirit instruct you, guide you and teach you all of the things that God desires to communicate to you personally.

This is not a religion – this is a relationship – a relationship with our God, our creator, our savior, our heavenly Father.  God not only speaks to us through His Word (the Bible), but you will learn how to discern God’s voice when He speaks to you directly.  One of the ways He speaks to us is through a still, small voice.  Remember that if you think you’ve heard from God, you can always validate that it’s really God talking to you by verifying what He is saying with His Word (the Bible).

Finding a church is very important in order to hear God’s Word and to gain insight into the Bible.  Look for a church that preaches the Word, and ask God to show you which church is right for you.  Also, it’s a good idea to spend time with other Christians so they can help you as you grow in your new life with Jesus Christ.  If you’d like our help in finding a church, we might be able to help you.  Send us an email at FaithInGodDaily@gmail.com.

You Have God’s Favor – Proclaim it Daily!

God wants to extend favor in your life, and here’s one of my favorite “Favor of God” stories.  But first, here are a few questions for you.  Have you ever tried asking for God’s favor?  How about proclaiming God’s favor in your life?  The first step is to believe that you can have the favor of God evident in your life.

Psalm 5:12 says, “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” And, Psalm 30:7 says, “By Your favor, O Lord, You have established me as a strong mountain.”

Keep in mind that the words you say are important.  In Job 22:28, it says, “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you”.  Throughout the Bible, it is reiterated that what you think – what you really feel in your heart – comes out in the form of words from your mouth.  Watch what you say!  Include Psalm 19:14 in your daily prayers – “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.”  How do you receive favor?

First, believe that you have the favor of God!  According to Jeremiah 17:7, “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.”

Second, proclaim that you have the favor of God!

So, here’s one of my favorite “favor of God” stories.  After loading the suitcase, I started my adventure to drive to the airport to catch my flight.  As I was entering the on-ramp to the freeway, I realized that there was something wrong – parked cars on a freeway is not a good sign, especially when you have a time limit to get somewhere!  So, I took the next exit and drove on a road that paralleled the freeway.  After stopping at quite a number of red lights, I finally arrived close to the airport.  So close, in fact, that the road actually ended.  Oh-oh, I thought.  Do you know that sinking feeling you get when you realize that your time is severely limited and you may miss your flight?  Not a good feeling, I can assure you!

I’m obviously running late and in order to quench my fear, I started to proclaim, “The favor of God will cause me to get a parking place close to the entrance door”.  Oh, did I mention that it’s sometimes really difficult to get a parking place in the terminal parking lot?  Imagine that!  But, I kept repeating, out loud, “The favor of God will cause me to get a parking space close to the entrance door”.  I repeated and repeated and repeated it until I drove into the parking garage at the terminal.  As I drove into the parking garage, guess what?  Yes, indeed – a rare find – one open parking space about 20 steps from the front entrance of the terminal!  I ran into the terminal, went through a security line that only had 2 people ahead of me, and was able to walk on the plane with minutes to spare.  Praise, God!

But wait, there’s more!  With my excellent adventure over, I again traveled to the airport for my flight to return home.  The airline agent started calling the groups, “Group 6 can begin boarding”.  But here’s a strange sight – the agent who is checking everyone in is actually requiring everyone – and I mean everyone – to insert their luggage in the metal luggage holder.  Do you remember the small, metal luggage holder that has a sign over it indicating that your carry-on luggage must fit in this container in order to be able to fit in the overhead luggage compartment?  I don’t know about you, but I’ve traveled a fair amount over many years and I’ve never – and I repeat – never seen anyone insert their luggage into the metal luggage holder.  In fact, I’ve never seen an airline gate agent require anyone to insert their carry-on bag into the metal container to see if it would fit.

This was a different day, my friends.  This airline agent was requiring every single passenger to put their carry-on bag into the metal holder.  If they could insert their carry-on bag and remove it from the holder easily, he allowed you to carry your luggage on the plane.  If it did not fit, then the bag was put aside and the passenger was not allowed to take the bag on the plane!  Now, I’ve seen all sizes of carry-on bags on an airplane and I can say with complete confidence that there are numerous, numerous large bags taken on airplanes that would not or could not fit in that metal luggage holder.

I quickly accessed the situation and realized that my bag was not going to make it on the plane with me, even though it would easily fit in the overhead bin.  I knew full well that my carry-on bag would not fit in that metal holder!  As I witnessed other passengers becoming upset, disgruntled and even angry that their carry-on bag was too big for the metal holder, and that they couldn’t take it on the plane, I had a thought.  Why not claim the favor of God?

“Group 5 can now board”, I heard.  And with that, I spoke very softly and out loud, “The favor of God will allow me to bring my bag on the plane”.  I repeated it over and over as the other passengers expressed their displeasure of their bags not fitting in the holder.  But I kept proclaiming that I had the favor of God until I heard my group called.

“Group 4 can now board”.  I stepped in line and although it appeared bleak, I kept repeating, “The favor of God will allow me to bring my bag on the plane”.  Suddenly the passenger about 3 people ahead of me started to raise his voice and become verbally combative with the airline agent. For about 1 minute, everyone listened to raised voices from the passenger and the agent.  Then, the other ticket agent behind the counter walked over to the door, looked at the passengers in line, and said, “Next!”.  So, while the argument ensued, I quickly walked up to the agent and waived my boarding pass under the laser beam.  Just as I waived my boarding pass, the agent who was arguing finished the discussion, turned around and went back to the station of checking people into the flight.  The favor of God was present, as I was only one of three people who got to take their (larger than the metal holder, but small enough to fit in the overhead bin) carry-on bag on the flight!  Praise God!

But wait, there’s even more!  Toward the end of the flight, the pilot announces that we will be landing soon.  This airport is really large.  More often than not, your return flight arrives at a gate that is either in a different terminal or is really far away from the gate in which you left, causing you to walk a great distance or take an airport transportation system to return to the original terminal or garage area to get your car.  For example, it’s not uncommon to hear that your return flight is arriving at gate C33, while you left from gate B2.

Why not proclaim the favor of God one more time?  Originally, I left from gate C33.  So, as the plane is descending, I started to claim, “The favor of God will cause this plane to arrive at a gate that is very close to my departure gate”.  I repeated this out loud, very softly, and numerous times.

Guess what?  As the plane landed, the flight attendant announced that our plane was going to arrive at gate C30 – 3 gates away from my original departure gate!!  I would be really close to the car, as I had parked it outside in front of gate C33.  Praise, God!

Got favor?  Yes, you do!  Psalm 84:11 says, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”  How is our walk blameless?  Because we’ve accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  Our righteousness comes from what Jesus has done for us!

If you would like to receive Jesus into your life, say the following prayer out loud and mean it from your heart:

Heavenly Father, I come to You admitting that I am a sinner.  Right now, I choose to turn away from sin, and I ask You to cleanse me of all unrighteousness.  I believe that Your Son, Jesus, died on the cross to take away my sins.  I also believe that He rose again from the dead so that I might be forgiven of my sins and made righteous through faith in Him.  I call upon the name of Jesus Christ to be Savior and Lord of my life.  Jesus, I choose to follow You and ask that You fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit.  I declare that right now I am a child of God.  I am free from sin and full of the righteousness of God.  I am saved in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

God is Speaking to You Today

Would you like to hear from God today?  It’s simple – read the Bible!  The Bible is just like receiving a personal letter from God to you – coaching you, mentoring you, talking about how He loves you, offering insights and information on how you can live your best life, and more.

God says in Psalm 1:1-3 that we should delight in reading God’s word, the Bible, and to meditate on it day and night.  Don’t be afraid to meditate on God’s Word – when you mediate, you simply mull over and think about God’s word, as well as mutter it (say it out loud).  You can simply take a verse from the bible and say it over and over again.  For example, as you’re driving along in your car, you can repeat a verse and as you’re speaking it, you’re also thinking about it.

As you begin to read God’s Word, don’t be surprised when the Holy Spirit begins to give you additional insight into the scriptures.  The Holy Spirit will oftentimes speak to you in a very still, small voice.  Remember that the insight you receive from the Holy Spirit will always – and we mean always – align itself with the rest of God’s Word!  When in doubt, ask God to show you another verse that confirms what He is telling you.

What happens when we think about God’s Word?  Well, Psalm 1:1-3 tells us that when we think about God’s Word day and night – we will be like trees planted along a riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  What are some of the kinds of fruit we can expect to receive?  Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness (Galations 5:22), and even prosperity (Psalm 1:3).

Hebrews 4:12 points out the importance of God’s Word – the Bible – “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”

Action Plan:  Pick up your Bible, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart as you read His Word, and begin to read!  And, it’s OK to talk to Him and tell him your thoughts and what is in your heart. Yes, He already knows, but it’s a start to forming a lasting relationship with the one and only God who not only created you, but the universe as well.

What You Say is What You Pray

One day when I awoke I heard God say to me, “My words will not return void”.  I immediately went to my comfy chair and pulled out His Word and looked up the verse in the Bible, which turned out to be Isaiah 55:11.  “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

As I meditated on this verse by reading it again and saying it out loud, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me in that still small voice.

The resulting prosperity will either result in producing good fruit or bad fruit, depending on what you speak.”

Wow!  What a revelation. What you say can either work for you – or against you.  It can bring about what you really don’t want to happen in your life.  What you say is what you get!  Or, in other words, what you say is what you pray! Is that what God promised in His Word for you? No.

Don’t speak negative words.  God’s Word is full of promises and we should be declaring God’s Word and promises in our life.  We also should be saying and declaring what we want to happen in our life.  Look for bible verses that line up with what you want to happen in your life and declare them daily.

I thanked God for the insight!  I’ve also learned from my Pastors over the years that what God says to you will always be confirmed in the Bible.  In other words, God will not say something to you that is NOT in His Word.

In Proverbs 18:20-21, it says that a man’s [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil].  It also says that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].  This matches up!  The power of your words – what you say – produces fruit in your life and the results will either be positive or negative.  Which do you prefer?

Jesus said in Matthew 12:36-37, “And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”  Idle words are those words that do not line up with what God said and has promised for you. You can find all of God’s promises in the Bible.

Action Steps:  Write down what you say about your finances, health, family, job, coworkers, friends and future.  Are you declaring things that you want to come to pass?

In a future blog, we’ll discuss this idea further.  In the meantime, here’s a verse to think about and meditate on:

Mark 11:23-24  “Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.   Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

Reference:  Isaiah 55:8-11 from the Amplified Version (AMP)

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. 10  For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11  So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Reference:  Isaiah 55:6-11 from the King James Version (KJV)

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10  For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Free Gift of Salvation:

If you would like to receive God’s free gift of salvation, simply pray this prayer and believe that God hears you!

“Lord Jesus, I ask You to forgive me of all my sins.  I confess that I am a sinner before You this day.  I denounce Satan and all his works.  I believe with all my heart that You are the Son of God, that You died on the cross for the sins of the world and that You rose from the dead.  I confess these things with my mouth, so all of heaven and earth can hear it.  I’m saved!

“Jesus, reveal Yourself to me.  Reveal Your nature to me.  I want to experience Your love and be whole in my spirit and my body.  From this day forward I promise to include You in my life.  I will tell others about You.  I will walk in faith.  I will excel in all that I put my hand to because I will be doing Your will, Jesus.  You will be my guide and my best friend.  Today I begin again.  I am a new creature in you, Jesus Christ!  Everywhere I go, I will let Your light shine through me.

“I pray this prayer to God the Father, in the name of Jesus.  Amen!”
